Ordinary people make extraordinary change

The thing that resonated with me the most on this first day was the fact that all of the people who participated, all of the heroes that participated in the Greensboro sit-ins just went into a store and sat down. The International Civil Rights Museum stressed that all of the participants were ordinary people. They had no super powers besides astonishing amounts of courage. These four men became famous and ignited a spark that fueled thousands of other people to stand up for their unalienable rights simply by asking for a slice of pie and a cup of coffee. The last exhibit of the museum had a wall of pictures of the heroes of the civil rights movement. Our tour guide made sure to stress that many spots were left blank on the wall. These spots are left for us, the potential heroes of the future. Our tour guide also read us a quote: "It takes ordinary people to make extraordinary change." It does not take any special physical ability to change this world. It is up to us to choose to do so or not.
